Privacy
Short version: your files never leave your computer, and there are no cookies.
Who runs this
Rescue Pub Files is run by ALGD LTD, a company registered in Northern Ireland, number NI744090. ALGD LTD is the data controller for anything described here. Email [email protected].
Your files
When you open a Publisher file, your browser reads it from your disk and converts it with code running on your own device. The file, its pages, its text and pictures, and the PDFs and other files you make aren't sent to us or anyone else. The page's security policy only lets it connect back to this site and to Cloudflare's visit counter, and the only things it sends are the short notes described below, never the file. To check, open your browser's network panel, then open a file.
When a file opens or won't open
When a file opens or fails to open, or a PDF or other download is made or fails, the page tells our server the type of file, whether it worked and, if not, a short error category (for example "damaged" or "not a Publisher file"), so we can fix files that don't convert well. It never sends the file, its name, its size or anything inside it, and nothing identifying you is stored.
What the hosting records
Like any website, the pages have to be delivered to you. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse. ALGD LTD doesn't use this to build profiles of visitors.
Visit counts, cookies and ads
Rescue Pub Files uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and doesn't use your browser's storage for this. For each page view it records the page address, the page you came from, your browser and device type, your country (worked out from your IP address, which isn't stored) and how long the page took to load. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf. There's no advertising and no tracking across other sites. If that changes, this page will be updated first, along with any consent you need to give.
What's stored in your browser
If you buy the unlock, your browser's local storage keeps a note that you did. It stays on your device, and clearing your site data removes it. Nothing else is stored, and files you open are forgotten when you close or reload the page.
If you buy the unlock
Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own pages. ALGD LTD receives what's needed to record the sale, such as your name, email address and the amount paid, and never sees your full card number. These records are kept as long as UK tax rules require. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what Stripe does.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask what personal data ALGD LTD holds about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. If you're in Ireland or the EU, you can also contact your own data protection authority, such as Ireland's Data Protection Commission.
